Rocky IV is getting a brand new director’s cut for its 35 year anniversary, but fans can forget about seeing one of the film’s quirky, memorable characters. Sylvester Stallone, who wrote and directed the film, announced on Instagram yesterday that he’ll be releasing his own celebratory director’s cut, minus Paulie’s robot, Philly Voice reports.

“For the 35th anniversary, Rocky 4 Is getting a new director’s cut by me,” Stallone wrote on his Instagram post. “So far it looks great. Soulful. Thank you MGM For this opportunity to entertain.”

Some inquisitive fans asked for more details after his post, with one asking, “Wow! Cool! Does it expand on the relationship between Paulie and his robot?” But Stallone made his thoughts on the robot clear in his reply. “The robot is going to the junkyard forever, no more robot,” he wrote.

When another commenter urged him, “don’t cut the robot,” Stallone doubled down. “I don’t like the robot anymore,” he replied.

Rocky IV, the highest-earning film in the Rocky franchise, follows Rocky Balboa (Stallone) as he travels to Russia, where he fights Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) after the death of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). The robot comes in when Balboa gifts it to his brother-in-law Paulie (Burt Young) as a birthday present. While Paulie rolls his eyes at the robot at first, he later warms up to it after giving it a new, female voice.

Stallone hasn’t announced a premiere date for the Rocky IV director’s cut, but the original film was released in theaters on Nov. 27, 1985, so we’ll likely be getting it later this fall. And if you don’t remember the robot, check out the video above — just don’t expect to see it when the director’s cut drops.
