Netflix has been adding a ton of content lately, but as they make room for shiny new originals, old network favorites have gradually begun to depart the platform. These farewells are likely due to the streaming giant’s goal to shift content so that 50% of the available titles are Netflix originals and the hefty licensing fees that come with keeping these popular shows on the platform. Earlier this month, we reported that all nine seasons of teen drama One Tree Hill was on its way out, and unfortunately, it looks like more are following suit. Last week, rumors began swirling that fan favorites 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights would be leaving Netflix in October after a cord-cutter got the following message:

The departure of the series was initially speculative, but Decider reached out to Netflix for comment and they confirmed the sad news in the following statement:

Yes, 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights will be rolling off the service in October. The license for a TV series or movie is for a set period of time, which means every title eventually comes up for renewal. At that point we take a variety of factors into account to determine if we will renew the title. As we expand our content portfolio, our goal is to continue offering great movies and TV series for our members, while also providing content that is available exclusively on Netflix.

While no official date has been released, it looks like both series will be leaving October 1. What’s On Netflix also reports that Malcolm in the Middle, My Name is EarlPrison Break, and more will leave on the first, and American Horror Story: Hotel and Freak ShowThe GrinderDon’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, and a handful of others will depart in the following weeks.

No word yet where these shows will be available to stream after they leave Netflix, but Hulu does seem to be making a habit of snatching up series after they leave the platform.
