Final Shots: Netflix Is Trolling North Korea’s New Manbang Streaming Platform

Netflix has been trolling North Korea’s new Manbang streaming service, which has been dubbed “the Netflix of North Korea.” The platform altered their Twitter bio this week to read “Manbang knockoff” while also making a recent sarcastic statement in reference to their potential for competition.

According to Business Insider, when asked what they thought of their new competitor, Netflix replied: “We are bummed we didn’t think of that name first.” North Korea remains one of the only territories where Netflix is not permitted, in addition to Syria, Crimea, and China. Currently, the Manbang platform only permits viewers to choose between selective documentaries about the country’s “dear” leaders or state-approved television programming.
