Final Shots: Amazon Prime Video Nabs Streaming Rights To Popular PBS Kids Series

Prime Video will now be the exclusive premium subscription streaming home for a number of family-favorite PBS kids series. The new deal serves to bolster Amazon’s children’s catalogue while “making Prime Video the best destination for kids and family programming that will both educate and entertain,” according to Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Television Acquisition for Amazon.

According to a press release, the multi-year agreement includes viewer favorites such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Wild Kratts, Odd Squad, Dinosaur Train and more, plus new-to-Prime series including Nature Cat and Ready Jet Go! Speaking in regards to the deal, representatives from both Amazon and PBS reiterated their dedication to delivering educational programming to children, including series that support social-emotional development and literacy skills, as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills.

Are you ticked off about the recent Netflix price hike? Well, one unhappy subscriber has gone as far as to sue the streaming giant for breach of contract. The very first images of Matthew McConaughey on set for Stephen King’s upcoming film adaptation of The Dark Tower book series have leaked online. McConaughey will co-star alongside Idris Elba – playing the “Man in Black” – an evil sorcerer who aids in the duo’s world-saving journey to the tower.

Disney has inked a deal with MLB to purchase a 33% stake in the league’s streaming service, MLB Advanced Media. The Walt Disney Co., which owns ESPN, will also have the option of buying an additional 33% stake within the next four years. [Bloomberg]

Netflix released the trailer for Season 2 of Between, the platform’s co-venture with Canadian network City. The intense new clip displays a small town community that is still fighting for survival at the hands of a lethal disease. All new episodes are available today, July 1.
