Adolf Hitler Is Coming To Netflix! Streaming Service Acquires Satire ‘Look Who’s Back’

Watch out, Frank Underwood! An even more brutal and evil political power player is coming to Netflix! The streaming giant confirmed today that they have acquired the streaming rights to the German blockbuster Look Who’s Back. The satire is an adaptation of a worldwide bestseller that explores what would happen if Adolf Hitler woke up in his bunker in modern times, completely unaware of what had happened in the last 70 years. Both the book and film are a comedy of errors that shows Hitler struggling to make sense of modern society, all the while mocking how we would probably assume that Hitler was just a really committed comedic method actor.

Last fall, Amazon raised eyebrows with ad campaign that promoted The Man In The High Castle by covering a New York City subway car with Axis propaganda. Strap hangers raised objections to seeing swastikas on their morning commute and Amazon took the ads down. Netflix might be poised to face similar blowback as Look Who’s Back depicts Hitler using his newfound niche celebrity status to mount a political comeback.

Netflix has the rights to the film outside Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Japan and Taiwan. Early reports suggest that Netflix is eyeing an April 9 rollout for the film.
