Ever since legendary R&B star Prince tragically passed away a few weeks ago, fans have been remembering him for his kindness, talent, and idiosyncrasies. People are also reminiscing about how much he loathed the Kardashians. Sure, he famously pushed Kim Kardashian off the stage at Madison Square Garden, but he also dramatically nixed the family’s appearance on New Girl.
Zooey Deschanel visited Conan the other night and shared how the show’s crew had to build a literal bonfire to hide all evidence that certain Kardashians had been invited to guest star on Prince’s episode.
Originally Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner were set to appear in a party scene hosted by Prince and Prince was not having it.
As Deschanel tells it, she was just hanging out on set, minding her own business, studying lines, when a frantic P.A. took everyone’s scripts and call sheets and headed with them out the door. Deschanel said, “And then I walk outside and she has, like, a bonfire. She’s burning all the scripts and call sheets!”
“It turns out that someone from Prince’s camp was like, ‘Who are all the celebrities? I hope it’s not a Kardashian,'” said Deschanel. “Which is sad because I think Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner had very kindly come in and shot the scene.”
The Kardashians were then rushed out and, yes, all evidence of them had been burned in a massive fire so Prince wouldn’t be bothered by them. That’s how much Prince hated the Kardashians.
