UPDATE: Did you enter our #SquaresOfThrones contest? If so, here’s where to find your square.
Valar morghulis. All men must die.
Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres on Sunday, April 24, but today, Decider is launching the first ever “#SquaresOfThrones” game. Entering is easy: Simply follow Decider on Twitter, retweet the tweet below, and you’ll be assigned a square on our grid —and also entered to win an iPad Air 2! If your name lands on square that represents the episode of a character’s death, you’ll get a prize! That’s right: When you play the Squares of Thrones, you win when they die.

HOW IT WORKS:

    • Follow @Decider on Twitter and retweet our official #SquaresOfThrones tweet. You will automatically be signed up and, shortly thereafter, your Twitter handle will be assigned a number 1-100! Yay! This number will correlate to a specific square in our official “Squares of Thrones” grid. You have until midnight on April 23 to enter. Here’s that tweet again:

  • Before the Game of Thrones season six premiere, discover which episode number and which character names intersect in your numbered square. This is your entry. For instance, if your number is 9, then your square is located where “Tyrion Lannister/ The Night’s King” and “Episode 9” meet. You will win a prize if Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) or The Night’s King (that creepy CEO of the White Walkers) dies in episode 9 of season six of Game of Thrones.
  • Why do we have two characters per square? Well, we wanted to up your odds. See? We’re nice. We’re not as cruel as the many horrific gods of Westeros.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY ‘DIE’?:

Always a good question when it comes to Westeros! This is, after all, a show where we’ve spent the past several months wondering whether the character we saw stabbed to death in front of our eyes is actually dead. For the purposes of our game, a character is dead if we see them kick the bucket on screen. If they end up getting resurrected by red magic later, that’s their business. For our purposes, they died. Some examples from the show’s history:

  • The Red Wedding: Robb and Catelyn Stark: dead. Clean. Easy. No controversy.
  • The Hound: left for dead at the bottom of a hill. Not dead.
  • The Mountain: didn’t technically die before being put into an unholy state by Qyburn. Not dead.
  • Myrcella Baratheon: poisoned and collapsed into Jamie’s arms at the end of last season. While it was conceivable that she might have been revived in the next episode, we know from reports that that’s not happening. She can’t get any deader. So sometimes we can’t confirm they’re dead until the next episode, but once we do, the character’s death is credited to the episode they actually bit it in.
  • Jon Snow: DEAD. Maybe he comes back, maybe he doesn’t, but that dude died.

Any gray area will be determined by the discretion of Decider.com. This is art we’re talking about, not science, so we may have to make a few judgment calls. We trust that we’re all in this for good fun if you’ll trust that we will exercise the wisdom of the Maesters in all determinations.

WHAT DO I WIN IF THEY DIE?

Another great question! Everyone who plays the #SquaresOfThrones will be entered to win a brand new iPad Air 2; we’ll be announcing that winner in June when the sixth season of Game Of Thrones has concluded. In the interim, though, we’ll be giving out fun goodies to our weekly winners on Twitter. What kind of goodies? Well, you’re just gonna have to wait to find out. (NO SPOILERS, duh!)
Good luck, everyone. One last time, all you have to do to enter is to follow Decider on Twitter and retweet the following message:
