‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ Live-Binge

3:00:20 AM: And we’re off! You know, you have to hand it to Marvel’s Daredevil. Some Marvel adaptations take a while to get to the whole “how did the hero get his (or her) powers” punch, but this show opens with a little boy knocked on the sidewalk, soaked in hazardous materials, and discovering he’s blind.

3:04 AM: Yay. We see Daredevil’s (Irish) Catholic guilt before we see him punch anything. (Note: I am very tired and already want to crawl back to bed.)

3:07 AM: You guys, Daredevil! Daredevil is here! He’s beating up bad guys and saving women from sex trafficking! And look at his costume! That’s some high-quality knitwear!

3:13 AM: As a straight woman, I just want to make the point that Daredevil has done a good job of convincing me that Matt Murdock is a sexually desirable man. Moral? Handsome? Blind? A superhero? Physically and emotionally unavailable? SIGN ME UP!

3:14 AM: In the comics, Karen Page is just Matt and Foggy’s secretary (and love interest). Here, she’s also their first client. She’s also covered in blood and being played by True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll. I don’t know; I just find that last part ironic and amusing.

3:31 AM: Let me get this straight: Daredevil has a great apartment in midtown and it’s likely he that wouldn’t return my calls? Call me “The Cure,” because it’s Friday and I’m in love. 3:38 AM: It’s been pointed out by Eric Goldman of IGN. of IGN that Daredevil boasts some super tantalizing episode titles/descriptions. Way to drop all of those on us at 3 AM, Netflix!

3:42 AM: Karen has returned to her apartment to retrieve a flash drive. Naturally, a hit man was waiting for her. Luckily for her, she’s in Daredevil’s charge, and luckily for us, this show has some pretty cool fight choreography. 3:47 AM: I hear Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), but I don’t SEE Wilson Fisk.

3:50 AM: I thought there would never be a hotter “off-hours superhero wailing on a punching bag” moment than the one featuring Captain America in The Avengers, but Marvel’s Daredevil is offering some stiff competition.
