How To Erase All Of Your Passwords From A Roku Device

I like to think I’m a good daughter. So when I upgraded my Roku 2 to a Roku 3, I let my mother guilt me into giving her my old device so she could stream Midsommer Murders on her Netflix account whenever she wanted. I gave her the Roku 2, the remote, and all the cords, plugs, and instruction manuals that came with it.
It turns out I also gave her all of my own passwords.
Yes, my mom gleefully informed me last Sunday night that she has been sneakily using my Hulu passwords to watch Manhattan. I’m pretty sure she’s also been using my Netflix account to watch Ascension and Sense 8. I’m worried she’s going to discover that she can stream all of The Good Wife with my Amazon Prime log in*.
I’m willing to let my mom keep on using my passwords; she did give birth to me, so I suppose I owe her something. But what if I didn’t want her to have all my account info? What if instead of giving my Roku to a trusted family member, I passed it along on Craigslist or to a former roommate? Is there an easy way to clear out all the old passwords in one go or would I have to delete every single Roku channel individually?
Do you have to go through each channel individually and change passwords? Delete each channel? Or is there some magic setting that reboots the entire Roku?
We reached out to Roku and it turns out they have a simple, easy fix for this!

>> Go to the Main Menu and click “Settings.”
>> From there hit “System.”
>> Next, find the option that says “Factory Reset.” Clicking this will wipe the device and get it back to same blank slate it was when you bought it and took it out of the box.
There! Done! Now you can give your Roku to anyone and they’ll never know your passwords, use your accounts, or discover how often you rewatch Chef’s Table late on weekday nights. Click here for more on Roku.
*It’s not that I’d be mad if she used my Amazon account; it’s just I don’t want her screwing up my place in the series. (I just started Season 2.)
